Police are concerned in what they perceive is a significant increase in the level of violence on Har Habayis following the latest round of Islamic violence and attacks after Friday afternoon Islamic prayers, 26 Adar 5773.
Strange as it may be, it appears police have come to terms to accept weekly rock-throwing attacks as part of Islamic tradition but this erev Shabbos the violence escalated and police were also attacked with firebombs. A large force with full body armor stormed Har Habayis and using shields and stun grenades they restored order.
A number of police and at least one photographer were injured. Baruch Hashem it appears all of the injuries were light.
Elsewhere in Arab violence, an IDF soldier was lightly injured in an Arab rock attack in eastern Gush Etzion near Tekoa on Friday afternoon.
