An Arab couple enjoying the Kinneret shore told police they were targeted in a hate crime on earlier in the week. They explain they were approached by a number of Jews who shouted “Arabs get out of here! You took the Kinneret from us.” They describe the attack, stating the group began shoving them and eventually tried downing them in the Kinneret.
The husband, a 43-year-old resident of Upper Nazareth told police the attack occurred at about 23:00. Imar explains that he realized the attackers meant business and while he fought off the attackers, he shouted at his wife to run for her life. He managed to run in a different direction while they both screamed for police.
Police did arrive but the attackers had already fled. Imar was transported to Poriah Hospital in Tiveria where he was admitted for three days. He underwent maxillofacial surgery to repair the facial fractures sustained in the attack.
Police have arrested three suspects in the attack ages 15-17.
