VIDEO: Rabbi Pesach Krohn: Do Not Park in Handicapped Spaces

handicapped.jpg[VIDEO IN EXTENDED ARTICLE]

Earlier this week, Rabbi Paysach Krohn addressed several Lakewood crowds about the importance of caring for the less-fortunate, particularly the handicapped.

In this video, Rabbi Krohn speaks strongly about those who violate the law and park in those designated spots – without proper credentials.

He also quotes Gedolim who say that parking in a handicapped spot to go Daven, is a Mitzvah Ha’ba B’Aveirah. (See earlier article on YWN regarding Psak from Rav Chaim Kanievsky)

  1. I am in awe that we need a rabbi to tell us what should be common sense. I am sure that whatever it is that one is rushing for would be worthwhile to skip, or to park a little farther, or circle another few times, or just wait a moment until a spot opens up, rather than imposing hardship on another person and making a hillul HaShem by taking a handicapped spot. several times ive seen disabled people who had to endure extra suffering, more than their already extremely difficult situations, due to such selfish actions…

  2. I’m not sure I buy it.

And I’m certainly skeptical about the story with Rav Chaim. It is too bizarre. Like that they sent an important messenger from Lakewood to ask about someone who parked in a handicapped spot–how likely is that?

  3. if someone is in a rush, and his yetzer hara tells him to park in a handicapped space, then he is wrong, but at least I understand his motivation. But the 3 people who asked Rabbi Krohn not to speak about this – I can’t imagine what their motivation might be.
