Greenfield and Levin Offer Reward for Information in Williamsburg Hit-and-Run

glBrooklyn – Councilman David G. Greenfield, co-chairman of the City Council’s Brooklyn Delegation, and Councilman Stephen Levin, who represents Williamsburg on the City Council, are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individuals who fled the scene of Sunday morning’s fatal hit-and-run that killed a young expectant couple who were on the way to a local hospital. The 21-year-old couple, Nathan and Raizi Glauber, was riding in a livery cab when they were struck by a BMW sedan at the intersection of Kent Avenue and Wilson Street in Williamsburg at about 12:30 a.m. Following the collision, the driver and passenger exited the BMW and fled the scene on foot. The couple was pronounced dead at area hospitals, and their baby died early this morning after being delivered following the collision.

The investigation and search for the driver and passenger is ongoing, and Councilman Greenfield and Councilman Levin are offering the $5,000 reward in hopes that any witnesses come forward with critical information. Police have charged the registered owner of the vehicle, 21-year-old Takia Walker, with insurance fraud for illegally allowing a third party to operate the BMW, but do not believe she was driving at the time of Sunday’s fatal collision and are still searching for the driver.

“All of New York is suffering along with the Glauber and Silberstein families and everyone impacted by this horrific tragedy. We must do everything we can to help the NYPD track down the individuals who caused this incident and then made the cowardly decision to flee the scene instead of trying to help the victims. I am confident that the NYPD will find this people soon, and I urge anyone with information to immediately come forward to help bring justice for the bereaved family,” said Councilman Greenfield.

“I hope that this reward money will prompt anyone with information to help the NYPD identify and arrest the individuals who callously fled the scene on Sunday morning. I am devastated that such a horrible tragedy occurred in our neighborhood, and I join the entire community in extending my prayers to everyone who is mourning the loss of this young couple and their child. I am confident that the NYPD will find the driver and hold him accountable for his disgusting actions,” said Councilman Levin.

Anyone who witnessed the collision on Sunday morning or has any relevant information should call the NYPD at 1-800-577-TIPS or text TIP577 and your message to “CRIMES” (274637).

  1. The owner knows who it is and should be charge as aiding a crime and hold in jail with say a $50,000. We will see how fast she comes up with the name of the driver

  2. They have a name and photo. It’s possible the woman doesn’t know his whereabouts.

They did however charge her with insurance fraud, perhaps to put pressure in case she does know more than she’s letting the cops know.
