MK (Hadash) Dov Khenin is calling upon Defense Minister Ehud Barak to order the reopening of Gaza crossings to permit the flow of goods. With the exception of humanitarian supplies, crossings to Gaza were shut last week following a Grad katyusha rocket attack into Ashkelon.
The left-wing MK feels Israel’s collective punishment is not justifiable. He feels the closure does not stem from security needs, calling it strictly a punitive action which results in collective punishment against the civilian population. Khenin feels that collective punishment is contrary to IDF operational protocol as well as contradicting directives to differentiate between Gazan terrorists and civilians.

Moron. If he hates Israel’s policies so much let him move to Gaza.
How does this genius suggest israel stops rocket fire?
By making goodwill gestures?
The only gestures they understand are not fit for description on this site.
Odd because today the IDF are reporting that over 70 trucks laden with food and other goods are currently waiting on the Israeli side of the Kerem Shalom crossing, because the Palestinian contractor who operates the Gaza side of the crossing has decided not to open today!
Trade with Gaza strengthens Israel’s position, and it is in Israel’s interests not to undermine itself. The alternative would be for Gaza to trade with other Arab countries, typically directly from Egypt, which isn’t in Israel’s interests.
