A man convicted of firing the shot in a botched robbery that killed a New York City police officer has been sentenced to 45 years to life in prison.
Lamont Pride was convicted this month of second-degree murder in the death of Officer Peter Figoski. He was acquitted of a more serious murder charge.
The courtroom was crowded with police officers and Figoski’s family during Thursday’s sentencing.
Figoski’s four daughters said he was taken from them too soon.
Fifteen-year-old Corinne Figoski said that when their father died, a part of them died, too.
