Former New York City Police Commissioner William Bratton says he’s interested in returning to the job.
Bratton says he’s met with several candidates for mayor to discuss police matters.
He says those discussions have not included offers to take over as commissioner. But he says he’d be lying if he claimed he wasn’t interested.
The 65-year-old Bratton was NYPD commissioner in the 1990s under Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
Bratton spoke to reporters Wednesday after addressing a symposium on school safety at suburban Purchase College.
He said the British are considering allowing foreigners to apply for top London police positions. Bratton said that also would be of interest.
He’s currently consulting in Oakland, Calif., and Detroit. Bratton also has served as police chief in Los Angeles and Boston.
