With only 1 day remaining to the historic concert by Itzhak Perlman and Cantor Yitzchak Meir Helfgot, tickets are selling at an impressive pace with a sellout a distinct possibility. For the first time ever in Brooklyn’s magnificent new Barclays Center, world-renowned Chazzan Itche Meir Helfgot and famed violinist Itzhak Perlman will perform on Thursday, February 28th at 7:30pm. Together, they will create a performance that transcends the limits of vocal cords and violin bows. Those who attend will be transfixed by these two pure art forms coming together to form a deep, spiritual experience.
Chazanus has always been the language of the neshama, reflecting our nation’s triumphs and tragedies. A true chazzan has the power to transform tefillas hatzibbur. He is a shaliach for the entire congregation, using his voice to elevate the already powerful words of davening, and bringing them to a whole new level of dveikus to Hashem. In the same way, a true violinist has the power to create music that brings out the deepest threads of our emotions. Together, chazanus and violin music transform simple entertainment to something entirely spiritual.
The remarkable Perlman-Helfgot relationship began in Eretz Yisroel, when on a whim, Perlman decided to attend a concert featuring Chazzan Helfgot. When he heard the beauty and fluidity in Helfgot’s performance, he realized on the spot that together, they would be able to create something wonderful.
Chazzan Helfgot and Itzhak Perlman will be joined on stage by Perlman’s long-time collaborator Hankus Netsky, the Klezmer Conservatory Band, and an 18-Piece Chamber Orchestra with members of The Perlman Music Program, conducted by Russell Ger. The evening’s program will be drawn from the songs of their recent album, Eternal Echoes, and will also include selections from Perlman’s In the Fiddler’s House. Proceeds from the concert, which is presented by Barclays Center developer and majority owner Bruce Ratner, is in support of Met Council on Jewish Poverty and The Perlman Music Program.
This is truly an event not to be missed, and tickets are selling fast. In addition to the Glatt Kosher food that will be available, the audience will be treated to true food for the soul- the nourishment that comes from using the physical to elevate ourselves to the spiritual.

If they think it will sell out, then how can they say they will be selling tickets at the door?!
