A new poll finds New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn continues to gain steam in the Democratic primary for mayor.
The Quinnipiac University poll shows Quinn could get 37 percent of the vote. It says she would need 40 percent to avoid a runoff election.
Public Advocate Bill de Blasio is next, with 14 percent. Former City Comptroller William Thompson has 11 percent and current Comptroller John Liu has 9 percent.
Quinnipiac surveyed 1,017 New York City voters from Feb. 20 to Feb. 25. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.1 (3-point-1) percentage points.
