Haaretz Website Going Paid

In an age of almost limitless free internet content Israel’s daily Haaretz announces it will begin charging 40 NIS monthly or 400 NIS for an annual subscription. Despite the wealth of Israel news sites available with a wide range of religious and political content, the daily Haaretz feels it is ready for the big leagues and it is taking the bold move of limiting free content.

Haaretz officials are aware that some surfers will seek their dose of daily Israel news elsewhere, but they are obviously confident that in the big picture, there will be a gain, seeking to join the ranks of the New York Time and Wall Street Journal.

Haaretz will permit a visitor to view up to ten articles monthly, and after that one will have to be a subscriber. The free content available will be limited.

  1. I wouldn’t call them “liberal”. That term implies a belief in tolerance and multiculturalism and support for religious freedom and diversity.

I would just call them anti-semitic bigots.
