The Movement party headed by Tzipi Livni has become the first to sign a coalition agreement with Likud/Beitenu. As a result, Tzipi Livni will serve in the new government as minister of justice. Amram Mitzne or Amir Peretz will serve as minister of environmental affairs. In addition, Livni will play a major role in renewed talks between Israel and the PA (Palestinian Authority).
An official statement from Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is expected at 20:00 Tuesday evening 9 Adar 5773.

#1 – Everybody and his uncle predicted that Livni would join. The crux of YWN’s prediction was that Yechimovich would join also – which hasn’t happened – and won’t. According to Israeli media, Bibi is making a bold but risky move (we’ve gone from negotiation to poker to chess here) – and will form a coalition of 57 MKs by adding Kadima, Sha”s and UTJ. He will then try to scare Bennett into joining and/or to break off part of Labor through Ben-Eliezer to whom he will promise the presidency after Peres. Problem is – what happens if he can’t split Labor and Bennett doesn’t blink? Oops …
It could’ve been so easy. A majority government comprised of Likud, BY and the chareidi parties.
But noooo! BY just had to be with Lapid and Bibi signs up Zippy instead. He’s not going to give in to Lapid’s temper tantrums and BY is now part of that mess.
