Thousands of women gathered in France on Sunday 7 Adar 5773 for a kenos chizuk that addressed the threats posed to Jewish homes by the internet and other modern technology. This was an apparent response to the directive from the French government compelling internet in all homes to permit students to do assignments on line. While the kenos took place in France, it was broadcast to other cities as well, permitting Jews in other areas of the country to take part.
HaGaon HaRav Aaron Yehuda Leib Shteinman Shlita was quoted regarded the threats of introducing the internet into our homes, lamenting how many neshomos have already been ruined as a result of that system. Letters were also read from HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky Shlita and HaGaon HaRav Gershon Edelstein Shlita.
Participants were urged to turn to Yad HaChessed in France for assistance in arranging filtered internet.
Portions of the kenos may be heard on Kol HaLoshon.
