Iran has released statement vowing to strike out against Israel to avenge the assassination of senior Revolutionary Guard officer, General Hassan Shateri. He was killed as he was making his way from Damascus to Beirut, and Iran blames the assassination on Israel.

In Israel, state officials have not commented on the murder of the senior officer, and despite allegations pointing a finger of blame at Israel, national leaders and senior military commanders remain silent.
