An Arab motorist who crashed a checkpoint in Shomron near Karnei Shomron early Thursday afternoon 4 Adar 5773 was shot and wounded by police. In preliminary statements released to the media police report they feared the driver was heading at them, trying to run them over.

The wounded motorist was described in light-to-moderate condition, treated and stabilized on the scene and transported to a hospital.

Israel Radio a number of hours following the event reported police are inclined the incident was criminal in nature and not terror related.
