The NYPD says three Sifrei Torah valued at $90,000 have been stolen from a Bronx Shul.
They were discovered missing on Sunday from the Young Israel of Mosholu Parkway Synagogue on East 208th Street.
Authorities released the attached photo of the missing three Sifrei Torah.
Anyone with information on the case should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
Last month, a Sefer Torah, along with a Rabbi’s car, was stolen in Brooklyn.
It was found a few days later inside the abandoned car about a mile from the Shul where the vehicle had been parked.

Did the shul have a safe to protect the sifrei torahs? Who remembers Rabbi Hillel David two fires six seforim got burnt, no safe, now yes.
First of all, I am glad that the police have a photo of the stolen Torahs, as those police artist sketches are never helpful.
Second of all, what can one do with stolen Torahs? If you are anti-Semites, you can desecrate them, but if you are gentile but not anti-Semitic, you cannot buy them for resale at a big mark-up to Jews, because what Jew wants a stolen Torah. I therefore expect that we will hear in less than 2 weeks either that (a) the Torahs were found desecrated, or (b) the Torahs were found and returned to the synagogue from which they were taken.
