Latest Blizzard Forecast For NYC – Less Snow Predicted [Friday 11:45AM EST]

Snowflakes and rain are falling now as a powerful storm churns into the tri-state area, threatening to bring howling winds and more than a foot of snow Friday into Saturday, making travel treacherous amid potential blizzard-like conditions.

But the nor’easter appears to be tracking closer to the coast, which now means more rain and less snow. The latest models predict Long Island could still bear the worst in the metro area, with as much as 18 inches by Saturday afternoon when the storm moves out.

New York City and the Hudson Valley are forecast to get 6 to 10 inches, while interior New Jersey is likely to see slightly less, anywhere from 3 to 6 inches. New Jersey’s I-95 corridor may get the biggest break, with 1 to 3 inches forecast by the latest models.

Winds throughout the region could reach 60 mph.

All of New York City and Long Island are still under a blizzard warning.
