Republican Sen. John McCain’s tweet comparing Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to a monkey is drawing criticism from a fellow GOP lawmaker as racist.
On Monday, McCain wrote, “So Ahmadinejad wants to be first Iranian in space — wasn’t he just there last week?” He then linked to a news story about Iran launching a monkey into space.
Faced with criticism, McCain said in another tweet, “lighten up folks, can’t everyone take a joke.”
That didn’t satisfy Rep. Justin Amash of Michigan, who tweeted, “Maybe you should wisen up & not make racist jokes.”
During the 2008 presidential campaign, McCain created a stir during a South Carolina appearance when he repeated “Bomb Iran,” to the tune of the Beach Boys song “Barbara Ann.”

McCain definitely insulted primates around the world. How would you like to be compared to Ahmadinejad? They aren’t dumb animals. Apes are almost as smart as humans and clearly have feelings, and even monkeys are intelligent and sensitive.
There’s absolutely nothing racist about comparing a rotten person who happens to resemble a monkey to his brother. And just BTW, the Muslim media and leaders do not cease from calleing all Jews “apes and pigs”. So I say have some fun at the monkey’s expense! According to the Iranian press, Achmedinejad actually died in space. This one is a different monkey!
Racist joke???,is the guy on drugs
we are trying to think of something else McCain said that has a ring of truth to it?
Pity the poor monkey. He can’t even play with a nuclear weapon.
