Litzman: Let the Arabs Share the Burden Too

Following the first round of coalition talks on Monday 24 Shevat 5773; Yahadut Hatorah’s Deputy Minister Yaakov Litzman told reporters that bnei yeshivos who wish to continue their limud Torah must be permitted to do so.

Regarding the sharing the burden, the effort to draft chareidim into the military or an approved national service, Litzman added “if they really want equality and sharing the burden, then it must address all the citizens and Arabs must be drafted into national service, not just bnei Torah.”

  1. But he misses the point. The zionists wish to evict most of the Arabs, i.e., drive them out of the country. With conscription of hareidim (and harediot), they achieve their goal of breaking up the growing threat (from their perspective) caused by a growing hareidi population. After several years in the army, they hope a considerable number of hareidim will see the light and become “normal.” As it is, except for Arabs desiring to become secular Israelis (and having no freedom to be secular anywhere else in the region), the Arabs are leaving for better opportunities elsewhere, and their birthrate is declining. We are the “demographic challenge” to Israel’s existence, and now may be their last chance to stop us.

Arguing about sharing a “burden” would be like trying to discuss racial theories with the Nazis. It’s a pretext for pure unadulterated hatred. No sense arguing.

  2. Actually Lapid does call for drafting Arabs. Avigdor Lieberman even quit the Plesner Cmte because they didn’t want to draft Arabs.
Obviously, Litzman doesn’t want to draft Arabs but he is showing the absurdity of these “share the burden” people.
