  1. Lapid’s Cantonist plan seems worse than that of Czar Nikolai (Nicholas I). Nicholas harashah was satisfied with a certain quota whom he forced to serve in his army, but Lapid wants to destroy yiddishkeit from “everyone” besides a small quota in Communist Israel. HASHEM YISHMOR!

  2. Comment 1 well sums up, in my opinion, a lot ot the emotional reasons why many Jews do not want to serve in the IDF, namely they feel the Israeli gov. is like a Russian gov. which they have to avoid. Of course, I don’t share that view, I think the gov. is “us”, meaning Clal Yisrael. But I am against trying to force people to serve, simply because someone who is forced to serve will not be a good soldier.

  3. Athought – you comments are shrill and nonsensical. The Chareidim make up 15 percent of representation. This would be even higher if the didn’t waste votes on Amrom yitchak and amsalem. When you look at the percent of army eligible 18 year olds the numbers are 25-30% chareidi. What percent of the population must be chareidi for the chareidi world to step up to their responsibilities in defending the 6 million Jews living in Israel.

One single Jew learning Torah protects Am Yisrael – in Israel or outside of it for that matter – more than ALL the soldiers in a 1000 IDFs!! Go check out G-d’s opinion on the matter, He says it openly for all to see all you need to do is read what He wrote!

The real question we should be asking is why only the haredim are taking on the responsibility of creating this unbelievable protection for us – every Jewish person should be doing it!!
