Israel: Parents Keep Lottery Win a Secret


A couple that resides in the center of the country, in their 60s, merited a handsome lottery jackpot in a Motzei Shabbos drawing. They were pleased when 16 million NIS was deposited into their bank account, yielding an impressive profit from the 58 NIS ticket that was purchased.

The couple has eight children and they explain they decided not to tell the kids of their good fortune, at least not for the time being. They explain “Baruch Hashem we have everything we need. Our children have always received what they need and want. We want them to continue earning their way so they will have an appreciation for things. At the end, all our belongings will become theirs. We can’t take anything with us.”

The couple told the media they plan to use a good portion of the money to assist those in need.

When asked what dreams they will actualize with the winnings, they responded “our dreams have all been fulfilled already. Most important for us is to make certain the children are provided for. Due to the chessed bestowed upon us, our winnings, we are able to also do chessed for others in need.”
