Israel: 250,000 Votes Were Trashed

250,000 votes for 20 parties that did not earn a spot in Knesset were simply thrown away. 12 of the 32 parties competing in the general elections will enter the 19th Knesset.

The most prominent of the parties that did not reach minimum threshold is Otzma Yisrael, headed by MK Prof. Aryeh Elad and MK Dr. Michael Ben-Ari. With 61,835 votes, they reached 1.73%, still a bit shy of the required 2%.

Regarding the Am Shalem Party headed by Rav Chaim Amsellem, it received 43,095 votes, 1.2%. In third place among parties that did not reach the minimum is Green Leaf with 35,109 votes, a bit less than 1%. Rav Amnon Yitzcak’s Koach L’Hashpiah Party received 26,744 votes.

  1. At least Klal Yisroel can say good riddance to Mr. Haim Amsallem. That may the consolation prize of his costing Shas a seat. At least Amsallem is gone from the political scene and can cause no further damage to the Torah community with his back-stabbing his own Rov, Chacham Ovadia (who put this previously unknown character on the map), with his support of chillul Shabbos buses running on Shabbos and his support of forcing Bnei Torah out of the beis medrash.
