PM Netanyahu: I Plan to Lead a Change Including Sharing the Burden

In his victory address from Tel Aviv, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu explained he hopes to form a broad based coalition government that will be based on five major components; (1) powerful security to meet the challenges facing Israel today and the first challenge is to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear power; (2) Fiscal responsibility in the face of the continuing global economic crisis. I will not give up on this; (3) Political responsibility accompanied by a constant striving towards peace; (4) Increasing the share the burden issue; (5) Cutting the cost of living beginning with the price of an apartment in Israel.

As the prime minister spoke, shouts were heard from supporters “We don’t want Shas!”

“The election campaign is behind us and the challenges and mission details lay ahead of us. I would like many partners towards achieving these goals. We will lock hands and with Hashem’s assistance locking hands in a broad based coalition and together we will succeed.”

  1. He is an observant Jew, what’s the surprise? Do you know anything about his wife, father, brother in law and father in law..they are a family worth getting to know.

  2. Bottom line: If the anti-religious parties (Yesh Atid in particular) will agree to do whatever Likud wants on other issues (which isn’t a big deal since they largely agree), the Hareidim get dumped as allies and the government moves to close down the yeshivos (which is the effect of drafting all men from 18-21 and not funding yeshiva students). The best the religious parties can try to do is try to salvage something (perhaps try to avoid prison for yeshiva students who refuse to serve,as well as preventing arrests of Rosei yehivos for assisting draft refusal, etc.). And of course, the anti-zionists (who boycotted the election) will be happy to find they have finally “won” over the pro-zionist hareidim since the latter will finally have to admit that Torah and Zionism are incompatible.
