Israel’s Missile Defense Organization, the branch of Israel’s Ministry of Defense responsible for the development of Israel’s multi-layer missile defense system (‘Iron Dome’, ‘David’s Sling’, ‘Arrow 2’ and ‘Arrow 3’) – in collaboration with the primary contractor for the project, Rafael Advanced Defense Systems – recently conducted a series of tests which had been planned in advance, as part of the upgrade program for the Iron Dome system.
The series of tests is aimed at broadening and improving the capabilities and performance of the system in the face of an unprecedented array of threats. The test, which was declared a success, will contribute to the improved operational capacity of Iron Dome.
The ‘Iron Dome’ system is a missile interception system against short range missiles; the first (and only) of its type in the world. It was developed by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems in conjunction with Elta, Mprest, Israel’s Defense R&D Directorate at the MOD and the Israeli Air Force.
