Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein has called for a police investigation against Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, who allegedly received tens of thousands of NIS illegally from chareidi singer and businessman, Dedi Graucher. It is alleged that Graucher would give cash to the prime minister’s personal driver to hand to him.
The information was gathered as part of a state comptroller report into the so-called Bibi Tours case, investigating the prime minister’s travels. The report states that Graucher picked up a 48,000 NIS NYC hotel bill for Mr. Netanyahu.
“This is a false accusation lacking any basis that has, by no coincidence, been made public two weeks prior to the elections, in order to degrade Mr. Netanyahu and hurt his chances of being reelected prime minister,” Netanyahu’s lawyers David Shimron and Michael Rabilu said. “The prime minister did not receive one penny from Mr. Dedi Graucher – neither directly, nor through his driver.”
Graucher also denies the report, insisting he has not given a cent to the prime minister.
Police officials have reviewed the report and feel there is no justification to open an investigation based on the limited evidence available.
