A 2-year-old was found wandering around alone in the area of Kfar Avtin in the Galil on Friday evening. Police report that when she was spotted, the child was about 10km (6 miles) from her home. The child was “soaked from head to toe” due to the rains. She was admitted to Rambam Medical Center in Haifa for observation and turned over to the custody of social services. Doctors stress the toddler is in good condition but they wished to err on the side of caution and admitted her for observation to be safe.
A family member who was supposed to be babysitting was arrested and will face charges of negligence and endangering the child.
The child’s parents are divorced and she lives with her mom.
