A 43-year-old resident of the Gush Etzion community of El-David, known officially by the government as Nokdim, is facing a criminal indictment for a shooting incident that took place in April 2007.

The defendant was driving his vehicle on Route 356, from Efrat to eastern Gush Etzion towards El-David when rocks were hurled at him near the Arab village of Tuqwa. According to the indictment, he stopped his vehicle after spotting a 14-year-old Arab youth and a number of his friends. He fired a number of shots in their direction. The youths fled and he pursued them and at some point, he fired one additional shot, which struck the Arab youth in his head. Authorities report the youth survived but sustained permanent neurological injuries as a result of the brain injury.
