NYC Filled With Gunfire in First Hours of 2013


The city was filled with gunfire as at least seven people around the city were shot in the first hours of the New Year, according to published reports.

The first shooting occurred in The Bronx, shortly after 2 a.m. when a 32-year old man was shot in the stomach near White Plains Road and Seward Avenue, the New York Post reported. He was rushed to Jacobi Hospital, and is reportedly expected to survive.

Around the same time in Brooklyn, a 19-year old man was shot in the back on Irving Avenue in Bushwick, the Post reported. He was taken to Wyckoff Hospital and is in stable condition.

Other shootings occurred in Staten Island and Queens, including in the Queensbridge Houses in Long Island City, where a man was shot in both legs.

Each of the victims is expected to survive, the Daily News reported.
