Poll: HaBayit HaYehudi Gaining on Labor for Second Place

A poll published by Walla News on Thursday, 14 Teves 5773 shows that Naftali Bennett’s HaBayit HaYehudi Party continues to gain momentum, closing in on the Labor Party, which has been maintaining its position in second place. Labor, which is headed by MK Shelly Yacimovich, is holding at 16 seats and Bennett has climbed to 15.

The Sampling, Consulting & Research Institute reported the results of the poll on Israel Radio. The poll involved a cross section of the adult Israeli population, showing the combined Likud/ Beitenu list is down from to 34 seats. This represents a decline of two seats for Likud/Beitenu since the last poll by this institute three weeks ago.

According to a TNS Teleseker poll commissioned by Walla released on Wednesday, 13 Teves, if elections were held today, Likud/Beitenu would receive 35 seats and Bayit HaYehudi 15.

  1. HaBayit yEHUDI APPEARS to be gaining at the expense of Likud. The weaker Likud is the more it might be likely to consider a left-center coalition. Remember the If Likud plus BaBayit-Yehudi is under 60, they can’t necessarily count on getting the Hareidi parties to join since concription has emerged as a major issue, and Likud is strongly pro-conscription. The a stronger Bayit Yehudi might result in a government consisting of Likud, Labor and Lapid.
