Forecasters say a winter storm system will blanket the city with a light, fresh coat of white snow this weekend, creating ideal conditions for sledding and strolling in temperatures that aren’t expected to be too cold.
Meteorologists say about 2 to 4 inches of snow will likely fall across the region Saturday morning into Saturday evening. It won’t be a significant snowstorm, but there won’t be much blowing or drifting, which means a light layer of snow is expected to settle over a large swath of the region.
Storm Team 4 calls this system a “post-card” type of storm — one that New Yorkers can enjoy and that will be far different from the series of punishing storms that walloped the area the last few months.
Temperatures are expected to reach highs in the mid-30s Saturday and dip down a bit into the lower 30s Sunday and Monday before rising up again a few degrees on Tuesday.
