According to Water Authority official Dr. Amir Givati, the heavy rain during the last three days has brought over 18 centimeters (7.06 inches) of water to the Kinneret, the nation�s main source of potable water. With meteorologists predicting rain this week, water officials are hopeful that an additional 7 centimeters (2.75 inches) will be added to Lake Kinneret.
If this materialized as expected, weather officials state the December 2012 rainfall will break a 20-year-old record for the month. The level of the Kinneret on Sunday morning 10 Teves 5773 was reported to be -212.02 below sea level.
