Yesh Atid leader Yair Lapid is calling to oust draft dodgers from the cabinet in an apparent response to the seudas shlishis message released by the Vishnitzer Rebbe Shlita. The rebbe instructs talmidim and avreichim to ignore directives to report to IDF induction centers, stating he will gladly sit in jail in place of any talmid who finds himself in such a situation. The rebbe stated that his instructions are not meant exclusively for Vishnitzer Chassidim, but for all chareidim, asking participants to spread the word in his name.
Lapid released a statement “The statement by the Vishnitzer rabbi is like the disgraceful statement from Naftali Bennett, calling for insubordination in the IDF, representing incitement and law-breaking and it poses a threat to our democracy. The prime minister announced that those unwilling to follow orders in the IDF, calling for defiance, will not sit in his coalition. The time has come to oust the draft dodgers from the government of Israel.”
There can be no question the media is encouraging the anti-chareidi sentiment, which serves the election agenda of several parties, leading to more sinas chinam and a most unwanted distasteful atmosphere in Israel. The media, primarily controlled by the left-wing, has appointed itself the watchdog entrusted with compelling chareidim to enter the IDF. The media realizes the demographic reality and the growing chareidi influence which threatens its secular state and way of life.
Even Rabbi Chaim Amsellem who was ousted by Shas, is under attack, as radio guests explain that even if elected “Not one additional chareidi will serve in the IDF” as a result of Amsellem’s party.
Lapid added “this is the new chic in Israel, as if adhering to the law and directives in the military is optional. This is a dangerous trend that will lead to a deterioration of the system of law in Israel. The law is the law and it applies equally to everyone.
“Yesh Atid raises the banner of ‘equal service for all’ and it will see to it that in the next Knesset all draft eligible young people 18 and over will serve in the military.”
