Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon will remain in his post until a replacement is appointed following the resignation of his boss, Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman. Lieberman stepped down after he learned he is being indicted on fraud and breach of trust charges. Officially, the foreign minister will be Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, who also serves as health minister.
The law stipulates that if a minister resigns, his deputy usually follows suit but in this case, Ayalon will keep the office running until elections.
