Hashovas Aveida! Rosh Kollel’s 60,000 NIS Recovered

Mi K’Amcha Yisrael!

YWN-ISRAEL reported in Kislev that an avreich lost 60,000 NIS in the Givat Shaul area of Yerushalayim. The distraught rosh kollel advertised his phone number in the hope that the finder would be honest and make an effort to return the sizable sum.

That is just what occurred. Yossi Indor, of Ofrah found the wad of bills on the street. Immediately after finding the large sum he began efforts to track down the owner, realizing anyone would be extremely concerned after losing such a quantity of money. Baruch Hashem Mr. Indor succeeded in his mission and the funds were returned and Indor excitedly reported he was pleased to have fulfilled the mitzvah of hashovas aveida.

  1. Any bets the Israeli tax authorities are getting very interested. That’s well above the amount of cash that triggers suspicions among tax collectors.

  2. No surprise or shock to know that a ‘holy settler’ from Ofrah (located in the Shomron), a Torah Community was the individual who found and activily returned the huge sum of cash.

  3. To # 2

And now there is a big expectation Min Hashomayim, from us, to do Hashovas Aveido to all Briot of HKB”H, to Yidden and to Non-Yidden. Even if it’s totally anonymous and there is no Kiddush or Chillul Hashem.

  4. This is not hashovas aveidoh, as the Gemara says in B.M., losing money has instant yiush. Mr. Indor gave the Rabbi a present of 60,000 NIS, which is a very noble act indeed but not hashovas aveidoh
