The weather forecast for Jerusalem city schools, including chareidi schools recognized by the system is quite pleasant, as the city promises to complete installing air conditioning/heating units in all schools by the end of 5774. 16 million NIS has been allocated to the program.
Officials point out this will provide schools with year-round climate control and the new units are far more energy efficient that older systems that exist in some schools, so there will be an added plus of a significant energy savings. The funds are taken from two annual budgets, 9 million NIS in 2013 and 7 million NIS in 2014.
Mayor Nir Barkat explains this is viewed as a priority for him since he stresses the students must be in a comfortable environment if they are expected to learn as hoped they will.
