Vulture Nabbed in Sudan Accused of Spying for Israel

A vulture armed with GPS tracking and solar-powered equipment was detected by authorities in the Kereinek, a town in the Darfur region of western Sudan. Officials are looking in the direction of Israel, citing it was most likely sent as a spy craft by Israel, Haaretz reported, quoting an Egyptian media source.

The vulture also had a tag attached to its leg with “Israel Nature Service” and “Hebrew University, Jerusalem”, leading to accusations that it was on an Israeli surveillance mission.

Officials point out that a recent report attributes the bombing of a Sudanese bomb factory to Israeli forces even though Israel has not released any statement pertaining to the incident.

  1. Sounds ridiculous.. if israel wanted them to know they were spying they would drop flyers.. if they didnt want them to know they would cut the tag off the birds leg…… Israel has hi-tech satellites that give them images they want to see not random images a bird would take

  2. I wonder if you could design a drone to look like a bird? There have been efforts to train dolphins for underwater attack missions (plant bombs, etc.). They used to train pigeons to carry messages, so why not try birds for other missions. Apparently Eretz Yisrael is well located since many migratory species of birds pass through each year (that’s who the bird in the story got tagged by an Israeli Ornithologist). Maybe the Sudanese weren’t really dumb fools after all (see, I actually found a way to discuss the story without concluding that the Sudanese are total morons).

  3. No. The vultures didn’t bomb the plant.
No. The Israelis didn’t bomb the plant.
Blame it on George Bush. The two legged animals who live in America and wannabe Ayatolla Obummer have blamed him for everything else that has happened since he left the white house. Why not this also.

  4. I was in the Gamla Nature Reserve for birds from where this creature originates. They find it so funny that these muslims are not educated enough to know about how they track their birds with Gps, the reserve guide was laughing his head off. Last time it was arrested in Saudi Arabia. He joked that they were preparing to try the vulture in court. Poor ignorant fools….

  5. I looked at how the Iranians are covering this story. Press TV’s article is straight, saying that Sudanese media are reporting thus-and-such. But almost every comment on the article takes the Sudanese claims seriously, bemoaning the fact that the evil Zionists are exploiting the poor birds.
