Photo ops aside, this week the reality check will hit the senior players in Shas as the party’s Moetzas Gedolei Yisrael must decide on the party lineup. Maran HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef Shlita managed to keep the party from imploding a number of weeks ago as he compelled the sides to agree to the threesome leadership agreement.
Since that time, there have been a growing number of incidents in which the Yishai and Deri camps highlighted the tensions that exist between them but this week, the divide will become increasingly obvious to all as only one of them may be in the first position.
Most believe the first position will go to Eli Yishai, as he is the incumbent, currently serving as a deputy prime minister, minister of the interior and party leader. As such, barring any major surprises, Deri will receive the second slot. The official announcement from party leaders is expected in the coming days.

If Deri and Yishai really follow Da’as Torah and the opinion of Chacham Ovadia as they claim to do, then there should be no tension, after all they are only messengers spreading his message.
If they do not follow his opinion and are in a classical political power struggle, then the entire concept of Shas “lhachzir atarah lyoshnah” is a farce
