Yahadut HaTorah MKs Moshe Gafne and Yaakov Litzman went on the offensive on Tuesday, launching attacks against Aryeh Deri and Yair Lapid as the election campaigning in Israel is well underway.
“If Yair Lapid’s campaign against chareidim includes the community’s failure to serve in the IDF we will remind the tzibur of Lapid’s army service” stated Litzman. Lapid served as a reporter for the IDF BaMachane Magazine.
Gafne added “The head of Yesh Atid, Lapid, is suited to be the donkey carrying the load for Binyamin Netanyahu.”
Also in their sights was Shas co-leader Aryeh Deri. According to Litzman, if Yahadut HaTorah and Shas enter the coalition together, Shas will seek the finance minister portfolio for Deri or Yishai.
Gafne added that “members of Yahadut HaTorah have never been suspected of or convicted of criminal activity”. Speaking to Yisrael HaYom, Gafne stated “Who says I was speaking about Deri? Perhaps I was making reference to Olmert”.
When asked to comment on the allegations of discrimination against Sephardi girls in Ashkenazi yeshivos, Gafne added “There is no room and it is as simple as that. The reason is the places [for the Sephardi girls] are taken by the children from the senior Shas officials.”

Obama and Romney’s pot shots to each other do not compare to our Jewish Brethren and their malicious and angry slings at each other.
While I’m not a supporter of Lapid at all, I must bring up the sore topic from several months ago… Many people on this site commented that the chareidim in Israel are ‘doing their part’ by learning while the soldiers are fighting. I do agree that we need an army of people learning. However, I suggested at the time that everyone would take the chareidi efforts more seriously if they showed an effort to be brothers with their soldier counterparts. Instead the chareidi movement makes great effort in distancing themselves instead.
At this crucial and dangerous time – with many of our soldiers going to war TO PROTECT ALL OF US, CHARIEDIM INCLUDED – it’s time to step up to the plate. I have yet to hear of chareidi rabbonim holding emergency tehillim sessions or learning sessions for the protection of our citizens in the South or our soldiers fighting to protect us all. In fact, the only thing I’ve heard was some rabbonim ‘paskening’ that the chareidi yeshiva boys and avreichim should leave the yeshivas & kollels in the South!
Where are the outcries about “emptying the yeshivas and kollels!?!?!” I understand the possibility that the yeshiva boys and avreichim can learn somewhere outside of the immediate war zone. However, I don’t understand why they don’t feel it necessary to stand up and support our soldiers who are obviously flying INTO that very war zone to protect ALL OF US, INCLUDING THOSE VERY YESHIVA BOYS & AVREICHIM! Hold an assifa or kenes or emergency prayer rally in the heart of Meah Shearim… or even in Tel Aviv! Now, THAT would be a Kiddush Hashem!

Do they also have “places” for Ashkenaz girls. His comment only proves that discrimination and quotas exsist in the “chareidi” school system.
So, as the enemy in Gaza continues his lethal offensive against yids of all kinds in Eretz Yisrael, these MKs go on the offensive against … fellow yids who don’t share their worldview. What’s more, these MKs miss no opportunity to stress that their every word and action is inspired/approved by Gedolei Yisrael. How droll (not).
Naftush, Gedolei Yisrael know matters and what doesn’t. “Fellow yids” who dont share the Torah worldview are the reason for the current tzures. Who’s side are you on?
