Wounded Givati Soldier Remains in Serious Condition


The most seriously wounded soldier in the motzei shabbos rocket attack along the Gaza border near Nachal Ohz remains in serious condition this morning. Terrorists fired an anti-rocket which made a direct hit on their patrol vehicle. The soldier remains in a Soroka Medical Center intensive care unit with serious head injuries, in a medically induced coma on assisted ventilation.

UPDATE ON OTHER VICTIMS

A second soldier admitted to Soroka, wounded in the same rocket attack, is showing significant signs of improvement and he has been moved from intensive care and is conscious and alert. He is in an ophthalmology unit of the hospital.

ROCKET ATTACK VICTIMS

Two Gaza border communities’ residents were admitted to Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon with shrapnel injuries from rocket attacks. They are list in light/stable condition, including a Sderot resident who was on his way to Sapir College escaped with light injuries B’chasdei Hashem when a rocket slammed into his vehicle. He was hit with shrapnel on the left side of his body. He told Israel Radio that he sees the “yad Hashem” and is thankful to HKBH for extricating him from the life-threatening situation.

Two Givati Brigade soldiers wounded in the border attack are also in Barzilai and listed in stable condition. Upon their arrival following the attack they were listed in moderate-to-serious condition.

Keren Ochana, 37, from Ashdod, was admitted to Kaplan Hospital in Rechovot by her husband after the sirens sent her into labor.

Aliza Ochana, 71, from Ofakim, the mother of ten and a great/grandmother of 26 was injured too, as she was traveling home. She got into a cab and the sirens began wailing. The driver stopped the vehicle and everyone began heading for a nearby shelter. She fell during that run and was injured. She explains she was unable to move after the fall despite the incoming rocket. She was diagnosed with a fractured left hip. As a result of the complicated facture she underwent surgery which included the insertion of pins to set the facture.
