Almagor: Shut Off the Lights in Gaza

In light of ongoing rocket fire into southern Israeli townships on Sunday, the Almagor victims of terror organizations released a message Sunday morning 26 Cheshvan 5773 calling upon the cabinet to “turn off the lights in Gaza”, asking Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to shut off the electricity to Gaza. The organization’s leaders explain it is simply absurd to continue concerning ourselves with the welfare of Gaza residents as the area serves as a base to attack our civilian population centers.

Newly-elected head of the Bayit HaYehudi Party Naftali Bennett is also calling on the prime minister to act. Bennett reportedly phoned Netanyahu, seeking to give his party’s support for any military action that will halt the attacks. Bennett, a reserve duty officer in one of the nation’s top secret elite units explains “you don’t win a war with good defense”, calling on PM Netanyahu to instruct IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz to order a military operation of one type of another towards bringing an end to the rocket fire into southern Israeli areas.

Bennett adds “we must do what has to be done until they realize they cannot fire rockets into Israel”. He feels there must be an unrelenting offensive against terrorists in Gaza as well as the infrastructure until they capitulate, adding the IDF has been sent on more complicated missions”, signaling this is not undoable. He concludes by pointing out “Using the Iron Dome system can become addicting”, simply stated we mustn’t rely on the rocket intercept defense system but we must go on the offensive.

Minister of Public Security Yitzchak Aharonovich on Sunday called to target Hamas’ leaders in targeted surgical strikes.

  1. My idea is as follows.

    Pick a number 5, 7, 10, 20 whatever.
Preselect some civilian target in Gaza – a bus station, government building, dock, gas station, etc. When the savages reach that number of missile strikes, destroy the target. It might even be worthwhile to inform the Gazan savages of this policy with leaflet drops. See a proposed leaflet text below.

To our neighbors in Gaza. Murderers among you have shot about 12,000 missiles over the UN recognized border with our country in the last few years. Effective immediately, after the next __ missile strikes, we will destroy Target (fill in the blank). This policy (you shoot missiles at our infrastructure we destroy infrastructure) will remain in effect until further notice. At our discretion, this response will be accompanied by a shut off of your electricity for __ days. If your fighters do not stop their missile attacks, more of your civilian infrastructure will be destroyed after each quota of missile strikes and we may decide to shut off all electricity to Gaza until the missile strikes end.

How can you expect us to take your proposal for a “Two-State Solution (an ethnic cleansed 100% Arab state and a binational Arab Jewish State)” when you cannot restrain your rejectionist brothers from shooting missiles at us. Should you choose not to restrain the missile teams, please understand that after a short time there will be no civilian infrastructure in Gaza. Choose life.”

  2. I am against destroying the infrastructure in Gaza. Here’s why.

    1. The land in Gaza is Ours. Ruining or destroying it will just be harder on us later.

    2. Whatever gets destroyed in Gaza will result in additional aid given by US (and other countries) to repair. The aid from US to rebuild the infrastructure in Gaza will directly or indirectly be deducted from aid to Israel, which is sorely needed for basic defenses.

    3. It won’t work. The lobbing of rockets is funded by Iran and other Muslim regimes. It will continue until those sponsors stop. The rockets are not coming from a highly advanced civilization. Their conditions are very third-world, because the Hamas regime keeps it that way. To bomb them back to caveman conditions is not a great setback, thanks to Hamas.

I believe that the only avenue to achieve peace is to reclaim Gaza, a few miles at a time. Every rocket should be answered with Israel pushing back the border between Gaza and Israel. We can turn off their lights, but the result will not be greater than world condemnation. Just take back the land, in bits and pieces. If they cannot manage to reside there in peace, they don’t deserve it. Take it back. there’s more than enough real estate in Saudi Arabia and other Muslim countries for them to live as refugees. Let their brothers care for them. We cannot.

  3. Shut off lights.
#3 As one who lived in areas of Gaza, reclaiming is difficult and all new infrastructure has to be built. Also that will take too long…no power stifles an economy very quickly just ask those in Far Rockaway and Sea Gate.

  4. For each missile filled with shrapnel, send the same one over the border. It will stop very quickly. Shutting off the power, for 1 day per missile. Get tough, the tougher we are the more they will respect us. If we act like wimps, they will treat us as wimps.

  5. I saw a little boy who was born perfectly normal, suffer head trauma when shrapnel hit his brain. He now goes to Alyn Hospital, can hardly walk, will never be able to speak properly and we hesitate to deal with them as they treat us.
