David Petraeus has resigned as director of the CIA after admitting he had an extramarital affair.
According to his letter of resignation, Petraeus asked President Barack Obama on Thursday to allow him to resign, and on Friday the president accepted.
“Yesterday afternoon, I went to the White House and asked the President to be allowed, for personal reasons, to resign from my position,” Petraeus said in a letter to CIA colleagues. “After being married for over 37 years, I showed extremely poor judgment by engaging in an extramarital affair. Such behavior is unacceptable, both as a husband and as the leader of an organization such as ours.”
“This afternoon, the President graciously accepted my resignation,” Petraeus said in the letter.

Power corrupts. General Petreaus was a good soldier, but his yeitzer got the best of him.
There are already conspiracy theories circulating on the right wing blogs that they created this whole “affair” issue to get him out of the CIA to keep him from testify on the White House actions in Benghzai terrorist attack. While having an affair is considered the norm in the military, its generally frowned upon among intelligence operatives and especially for the DCI.
So when does David Estes get nominated?
Poor Judgement? More like Poor Self-Control…
I don’t think this kind of news belongs on Yeshiva World News, especially not in such explicit terms.
How convenient. He resigns right after the election and right before he is supposed to be griled on Capitol Hil about Bengahzi.
Rainus, now that it made it onto Yeshiva World News, how would you have liked it to say it?
