One of the chareidim involved in shabbos protests against Jerusalem City Hall operating the Karta parking lot was convicted by the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court. R’ Shimon Knifflomker was found guilty by Justice Shulamit Dotan of disorderly conduct and assaulting an officer.
The indictment was filed against the defendant on motzei shabbos Parshas Ki Seitzei 5769. He was found guilty of throwing bottles and other objects at police assigned to maintain order at the protest. The court accepted the testimony of two plainclothes detectives who were at the scene despite the defendant’s insistence that he was not involved in the violence.
Sentencing will be at a later date.
