Givati Company Commander Ziv Shilon, 24, is reported in “stable condition” in Soroka Medical Center in Beersheva following the Tuesday morning terror attack along the Gaza border.

The attack occurred on the officer’s last day in that sector as he was being reassigned as an operations officer in his battalion. Doctors fought to save his life as his condition was listed as very serious when he arrived in the trauma unit, and he began deteriorating as they rushed him into emergency surgery. Unfortunately, doctors had to amputate a hand and they are trying to save the other. He was also injured by shrapnel in an eye. Doctors report that while he remains in serious condition, his condition has stabilized.
