Authorities are looking into a video that shows two police officers repeatedly pummeling a man inside a Jewish community center in Brooklyn.
NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said the allegations of police brutality are being investigated by the Internal Affairs Bureau. The case has also been referred to the Civilian Complaint Review Board.
A separate investigation is being conducted by the Brooklyn district attorney.
The video was posted online on Sunday. It shows Officer Luis Vega punching Ehud Halevy on Oct. 8. Another officer, Yelena Bruzzese, is seen hitting Halevy with a baton.
Officials at the Aliya Institute in Crown Heights said Halevy was sleeping in a back room and had permission to be there.
The officers claimed Halevy had attacked them.
