Military officials on Sunday night the eve of 29 Tishrei 5773 increased the operational alert status for forces operating along the Gaza and Egyptian borders in light of heavy air forces shelling of terrorist targets in Gaza over recent days. The IAF targeted strikes were in retaliation for rocket fire from Gaza into southern Israel, including over 50 rockets fired on Simchas Torah.

Residents of Gaza border communities on Monday morning 29 Tishrei were instructed to remain within 15 seconds running distance of safe rooms and shelters, expecting continued rocket fire during the day.
