Jerusalem City Hall’s ‘Green’ Sukka

This year’s Jerusalem Municipality sukka located at Safra Square (City Hall) highlights decorations from plastic bottles, a recycling message. The sukka, which Jerusalem officials report as being “the largest in the country” is 1,000 square meters. The decorations are composed of 24,000 plastic bottles used in unique ways to create the fashion statement and create what is being called the “ecological sukka”.

Designers of the sukka call all the decorations “green decorations”, explaining all components of the bottles and other materials re recyclable.

  1. A nice sukka. Alot of thought and hard work went into it. I’m not sure I would make a brocho and eat in it though – the schach mats they used this year are very sparse. It doesn’t look like it’s 50% covered and there is only a tiny bit of overlap.
Basically, it’s all green besides the roof.
