The FBI arrested up to a dozen individuals, including medical professionals, in connection with an investigation into a multi-million fraud of the Medicare/Medicaid system, NBC 4 New York has learned.

The FBI’s Healthcare Fraud Task Force took the defendants into custody early Thursday. Task force investigators also executed federal search warrants at several locations in the New York City area, including Cropsey Medical Services, a clinic located in Brighton Beach, law enforcement sources said.

The individuals arrested are expected to appear in federal court in Brooklyn later Thursday.

Details of the investigation and charges are expected to be released by the U.S. Attorney’s office.
