Police, border police, tactical and other specialized units are on high alert for Sukkos week throughout Yerushalayim, with a focus placed on the Old City.

Unlike past years, Defense Minister Ehud Barak has not declared a closure on PA (Palestinian Authority) areas, a move that prohibited PA residents from crossing into “Israel proper”. With the new reality, security forces must contend with a greater potential threat with hundreds of thousands of Yidden expected to make their way to the Old City in Yerushalayim during yomtov and chol hamoed.

Citizens and visitors alike are urged to remain vigilant and not to hesitate reporting anything suspicious to police by dialing 100.
