Maran HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef Shlita on Sunday night the eve of 8 Tishrei 5773 visited Yeshivat Merkaz HaRav, where he gave talmidim chizuk, delivering a schmooze just 48 hours before Yom Kippur.

Thousands of rabbonim and talmidim were on hand to participate in the unique privilege of hearing the gadol hador in person.

Rav Ovadia made reference to the late rosh yeshiva and former chief rabbi, HaGaon HaRav Avrohom Shapira zt”l, who was niftar Sukkos 5768, stating he was “a gadol hador”.

The former rosh yeshiva was the father of the current rosh yeshiva, Rabbi Yaakov Shapira Shlita.
