Migron Shul & Mikva Destroyed – So Much for Gov’t Promises

When the families of Migron agreed to leave and avoid a confrontation, one of the motivating factors was a promise they received, that despite the court order to raze their homes the shul in the community would not be among the buildings destroyed.

Despite a personal appeal from Rishon L’Tzion HaRav Shlomo Amar Shlita, both the shul and community mikve were destroyed by the IDF’s Civil Administration. In his letter to Mr. Netanyahu, the chief rabbi used Gush Katif as an example, citing that despite the destruction there, the shuls were not among the buildings destroyed by the government.

HaRav Chaim Druckman expressed outrage over the destruction of the shul, releasing a statement “They say the destruction was in compliance with the law. Which law, Sodom! This is simply evil and no one would dare to raze a mosque in the name of the same law.”

MK (Ichud HaLeumi) Yaakov Katz added “The destruction of the shul by the Likud-led government is Chilul HaKodesh and turning one’s back on the personal request from the Rishon L’Tzion to the prime minister with the latter pleading not to lift a Jewish hand against Kodshei Yisrael.”

“We must cry for it is all up to us and every Jewish heart in Eretz Yisrael and around the world, today, on the eve of Rosh Hashanah that feels the pain, anguish and degradation realizes Am Yisrael, Eretz Yisrael, and Toras Yisrael are in danger” Katz concluded.
