Undercover Cops Arrive at Batei Warsaw in Meah Shearim

Police accompanied by Internal Revenue Service (מס הכנסה) agents early Thursday morning 19 Elul 5772 arrived at a number of homes in the Batei Warsaw section of Meah Shearim.

The word of the unwanted presence of the visitors spread quickly and neighbors came out of their homes, surrounding the small group. Police however are not naïve, and dozens of Yassam commando forces were waiting on ‘standby’ status at the entrance to the area, ready to respond on a moment’s notice if necessary.

Veteran resident Rav Yosef Kroizer told a police officer that one of the residents claims one of the tax officials had taken “a large sum of money” from his home during the raid. He reports the response was “They didn’t even enter that home yet. Stop making things up”.

  1. Taxes are a requirement of every resident,, who pays for sewer systems, fire & police, road maintance, traffic signals and other community needs.
